(c/o Kevan Pike)

May is a favorite of mine because after the rainy month that is typically April, we get more dry, sunny days as a great introduction to Summer. Toward the end of the month, grilling season is under way with Memorial Day. I love to grill because the clean up is easy. My kids love ribs from the grill, so needless to say, everyone’s happy.

This month is about what Barone 3G Salon can do for you. Consider May, the month of May I/May We. I’ve always been confident in my stylists’ ability to produce good work, but I want to enlighten our services. This is inspired by a seminar I went to a few months ago with Heather, Ally and Jamal. The presenter emphasized how important it is to create an experience. Many of you like to get your hair cut or styled to feel good. Others like to be pampered and then there’s those who do it out of necessity. So, the challenge is how to craft experiences tailored to everyone. I want to see every guest come through those doors, receive prompt, attentive service tending to all of their needs and rave to others with no other choice, but to return for another service. I put Jamal in charge of coming up with ideas and the marketing, but with him in New York, I think he’s challenged with not knowing the every day, so Heather and Ally have taken charge of everything to do with the salon and Frankie Boy is here to make sure you are all treated very well. So, throughout this month, you’ll see new attempts at fulfilling our promise to beGREAT.

Some of you may know this, but the word, “salon,” originated in 16th Century Italian culture as a gathering of people by a host who aims to amuse, educate or refine one another. They were invented to bring about community and sharing of ideas. Barone 3G wants to take that idea and make our space as inviting and enjoyable for you. We will make this space a sharing space, a comfortable space, a learning space and a feel-good space. I’m so convinced we can accomplish this, that if you have any ideas, please share them with us (Heather, Ally or any of us). Here’s to May and our “May we?” promotional DNA for how Barone 3G will be from here on out.

May: The Month of May We (B3G)

Memorial Day Getaway Ideas

Memorial Day is a great opportunity to get the family together and celebrate warmer weather or pack up the kids and getaway for a day/weekend trip. Below I’ve listed a few options of statewide day trips, day trips or weekenders.

*The Great Pennsylvania Flavorfest is a family-friendly showcase of the best in food, dining and entertainment. From wineries offering tastings to cooking demonstrations to Pennsylvania’s musical talents, this exhibition has something for everyone. There’s also many food and wine booths and vendors on hand to ensure that you get your fill. This event takes place on May 25th and 26th in Northern Lancaster County, off of PA Turnpike exit 266. Get more information at www.parenfaire.com

*Dutch Wonderland is a great Pennsylvania interpretation of DisneyWorld. Located near Lancaster, this amusement park is great for families, especially if you have little ones. If you want an authentic Middle American amusement, Knoebel’s Amusement Resortwould be another fair options for a day of good fun and tons of rides.

*Hershey, PA prides itself on being the “sweetest” place on Earth. It’s home to HersheyPark and ZooAmerica. Because of its famed chocolate, most everything is revolves around chocolates and entertainment. You could spend an entire weekend going from the amusement park to dinner and concerts or hockey games or to the Hershey Theatre. There’s plenty to do and indulge in all sorts of Hershey for everyone in the family. Check Hershey’s website: www.hersheypa.com

*Great Wolf Lodge Water Park is a blast of a waterpark for everyone in the family. I’ve taken the kids there before and we loved it. The park’s hosting its Summer kickoff on Memorial Day (May 27th). Go to www.greatwolf.com/poconos to see all that the park has to offer.

*The Poconos has a myriad of things to do. Just make your way there and you’ll find plenty of resorts, parks, lakeside beaches, shows and restaurants. Or even outlet shopping. More details can be found at www.800poconos.com

*Patriot New Arts Fest is an arts festival in our state capital, Harrisburg over Memorial Day weekend. It’s a huge cultural celebration. It features arts/crafts, music and entertainment. If you have the time to get down to the capital, check it out. It’s very popular… and even if you don’t get to the festival, being in the historic city is a sight to take in as well.

Easy Grilling Recipe

Heather’s (not our Heather) Grilled Salmon

Ingredients

Serves 4 people

-1/4 cup brown sugar

-1/4 olive oil

-1/4 cup soy sauce

-2 tsp lemon pepper

-1 tsp dried thyme

-1 tsp dried basil

-1 tsp dried parsley

-1/2 tsp garlic powder

-4 (6 ounces) Salmon Fillets

Directions:

1. Whisk together the brown sugar, oil, soy sauce, lemon pepper, thyme, basil, parsley and garlic powder in a bowl, then pour into a resealable plastic bag. Then add the fillets to the bag, squeeze out the excess air and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for about an hour.

2. Preheat the grill, lightly oil the grates and then remove the fillets from the marinate bag. Place the fillets on the grill.

3. Grill the salmon on the grates until brown or fish flakes. About 5 minutes on each side.

~Thank you for baring with me this month and I hope you find all of this information beneficial to your Memorial preparations.~

We look forward to seeing you again at our Salon!

Happy April Fool’s Day!

This holiday was never that serious for most people, but in the Barone house, we like to laugh… at the expense of others. The older ones would always fool us with easy jokes and fibs about chores that we needed to do, but as the young ones we were good about setting up the older ones.

Ed and Jim were brilliant. My sister, Antonia, had the most beautiful hair and she loved to spend time combing it. On one April day, Ed took honey from the kitchen and added it to her shampoo. He retreated to our bedroom just in the nick of time as a loud scream came from the bathroom. Mom went in to see what happened and she was so confused by the thick and sticky consistency of the shampoo. We burst into laughter, but tried to keep it low enough so they couldn’t identify Ed as the culprit. Mom told her that she’d just need to spend more time running hot water through her hair to get the honey out. What’s fun for me is to see my kids finding clever ways to trick each other. Bella’s been contemplating a way to forge a love note for Carmen from her latest crush. Some might see it as cruel, but I think it’ll get a good laugh for everyone.

This month marks the beginning of wedding season with Spring, Summer and into Fall offering some of the best weather and definitely a better scenery (flowers, greenery, warmth). In preparation for all of that special day, I want to offer our services in whatever way possible. With our spacious Academy clinic floor, I think it’s ideal to spend a portion of your day, beautifying and rallying with your close friends and family before exchanging “I Do’s.” We’d like to open our doors to you and hope to add to the excitement. See below.

——————————————————-

Get Sprung!

March is one of those in-between months. We’re at the end of Winter with Spring in sight. You lose an hour of sleep, but you get more sunlight in exchange. It’s an awakening of sorts. A Spring Awakening!

Speaking of, I’m feeling more and more alive lately. Business is going well, family’s healthy and the schools are growing. It’s a blast to be behind the chair again. Hanging with my staff and seeing what they produce in our Jam Sessions, I’m so thrilled to see how talented they are. I’m not ashamed to admit that many of the young stylists are better at cutting than me. They assure me that this salon can go further beyond my years. My father would be so proud. I just need to figure out which one of my kids can take on the salon after me. My bet is on Bella (but only if she doesn’t decide to go urban like Jamal). Maybe it’s Carmen. He’s the one kid I’d invite to live with me even after he turns 18. I think Nick will be a professional athlete, so he’s out. It could be my little lady Lena… Who knows!? I’m getting ahead of myself.

For the time being, I’m looking forward to a new season. We’ve had plenty of time in the snowy Poconos this season, now I’m looking forward to taking the kids fishing and teaching them how to filet their catch. After that, we’ll be into grilling season. Bring it on!

With this newsletter, I’m going to be a little different. I want to talk Easter. We’ll talk Easter ideas and styles… and one of my Mom’s recipes. I hope this is a helpful read.

———————————————

Easter: Fun Facts

-The most popular hymn sung on Easter Sunday is “Christ The Lord Has Risen Today.”

-White Trumphet Lillies, which symbolize grace, purity and virtue, are the most decorated flower during the Easter season.

-Among fresh flower gift bouquets purchased for the holiday, mixed flower arrangements head the list at 34%, followed by daffodils/iris/tulips at 15%, and roses at 9%.

-The Easter Bunny as a holiday deliverer of candy and eggs is thought to have started in Germany during the Middle Ages.

-Each year, candy manufacturers produce more than 90 million chocolate Easter bunnies for Easter.

-Seventy-six percent of Americans eat the ears on the Chocolate Bunny first.

-Coloring eggs was brought to a high art when medieval English kings dispersed hundreds of decorated, gold-leafed eggs throughout the royal household at Easter.

-The largest decorated Easter egg was made in Alcochete, Portugal in 2008 measuring more than 48 ft. long and a little over 27 feet in diameter.

-According to the Guinness Book of World Records the largest Easter egg ever made was unveiled in Cortenuova, Italy in 2011 weighing in at 8,968 lbs. of dark chocolate and marshmallow.

-16 Billion jelly beans are produced every year in the US.

This light, effortless look is both simple curls and a pull-back. Nicely done, easy and allows those of you who love to wear your Easter hats to look good regardless.

**Did you know that the Easter Parade originated from New York women who would dawn their special hats on their way up Fifth Avenue heading to St. Patrick’s Cathedral? Interesting, huh?**

————————————————–

Easter Recipe: Sweet and Spicy Glazed Ham

Prep Time: 10 mins

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/3 cup maple-flavored syrup

1/2 teaspoon ground mustard

Step 1: Heat oven to 325°F. Line shallow roasting pan with foil. Place ham, cut side down, on rack in pan. Insert ovenproof meat thermometer so tip is in thickest part of ham and does not touch bone.

Step 2: Bake uncovered about 1 hour 30 minutes or until thermometer reads 135°F to 140°F. Meanwhile, in small bowl, mix remaining ingredients. Brush over ham during last 30 minutes of baking.

Step 3: Cover ham loosely with foil and let stand 10 to 15 minutes for easier carving.

Happy New Year!

I don’t know about you, but I feel like I overdosed on the Holiday Cheer and Christmas Spirit this year. It was an exciting time for me and my kids. I was so touched by how the kids were so thrilled to watch me open up gifts that they bought for me. They are all sprouting into mature, respectful kids. Carmen and Isabella are great role models to Nicolas and Alena. While Jamal didn’t come home for the holiday, his presence was felt nonetheless (He sent the picture at the top of this newsletter). My brother, Ed and his wife, Lorraine, hosted the typical Barone antics with a beautiful feast and a night full of traditions including our usual ROAST. We had a ton of laughs! My beautiful mother always glows when she has her family together around Christmas. This year, she prepared her delicious biscotti and Italian cookies which no one else comes close to making them as good.

Christmas celebrations were followed by many days of leftovers leading up to New Years Eve. Now, my bedtime falls many hours before Ball actually drops, but I tried to stay up this year. I lasted until about 11:30 before the snores took over and I finally gave into the sandman. I stayed up long enough to define my expectations and resolutions for this upcoming year. I understand that it’s bad luck to share your resolution, but I will say that I’m planning to work hard to make Barone 3G Salon (and potentially salons) a more memorable experience. We’re tossing around ideas to hire someone at the front desk, possibly expand our current space and add a spa-like environment. I’ll keep you in the loop as things change because I certainly want you to know we’re doing these things for you.

————————————————————

New Color, New Hairstyles 2013: Women

Wavy, Perfect Curls are easy for anyone to achieve thanks to the curling wand. Trade in your curling iron for a curling wand and you’ll achieve beautiful curls at home.

Braids may have disappeared for most of last year, but this year play around with loose, side braids, sweeping braids across the front of your hair or an individual braid among long hair. Have fun with this style.

Angled Bobs, along with other shorter styles (Pixies and Crops), can give you a youthful, vivacious character or make you look more polished. These short styles will have a solid moment this year, so try something new and fun.

Messy, Bed-hair hairstyles will make more of a debut this upcoming Spring. The idea is to look cool, casual and ironic, but also look sophisticated. This style is also known for being the Undone Updo.

Swept Over/Sleek hair may get a little more clean and fresh. From an extreme part on one side to adding in a braid to add the lean, creative touch, this style will draw a lot of flattering attention to the natural beauty of your face.

Pixie haircuts shave years off your actual age and blur the lines of playful and professional. All you have to do is touch it up to keep it clean.

Cropped hair, as mentioned before with short hairstyles, will do wonders to your age and appearance. Add in a vibrant color, something Reverse Ombre/Bold and you’ll turn plenty of heads with a soften face grabbing the spotlight.

Dipped Ends and Pop of Colors, or if you’re really daring,Rainbow Streaks are among some of the exciting color styles to dominate 2013.

New Hairstyles 2013: Men

Slick/Swept Over hair, Loose/Textured hairstyles, Undercut(inspired by the 1920s) and Medium/Shoulder Length hair are all projecting that casual, yet polished looks that men will rock all through the runways this Spring in New York.

Beauty Resolutions for 2013 (for Men and Women)

- Wash your Face every night (or wipe with cleaning towelette).

- Stop biting your Nails. If necessary, polish your nails so that you don’t want to nibble. You can get worms from the dirt under your nails.

- Avoid taking steamy showers. Believe it or not, Super Hot Water dries out your skin.

- Change your daily moisturizer to always have a SPF. Even in colder weather, some of the harshest UV rays come through. Increase your SPF to 30 or above and apply it to the back of your hands, neck, ears and if you’re bald, your scalp.

- Floss daily. Brushing alone only get to 65% of your teeth. Flossing gets the other 35%. Plus, it strengthens your gums.

- Apply your moisturizers before you completely towel off. It will lock in more of the moisturizers and your skin will look better.

- Eat Healthier, or atleast know which foods are good for your skin. Some of these foods include: Berries, Yogurt, Water-rich fruits, Wild Salmon, Almonds, Oysters, Avocado, Dark Chocolate and more zinc, copper and selenium rich foods.

**These are just a few resolutions to consider. If you want a more complete listing, check out realbeauty.com.**

It’s a New Year and an opportunity for a Fresh Start. Change up some things, try something you’ve always wanted to do. If you mess up your resolution, don’t fret and just try to keep on track. Miss a day? That’s fine. Miss a month, swing by the salon for some encouragement. We’re here for you.

Looking forward to this upcoming year!

See you around the Salon!

Santa’s near…

Santa Clause is coming to town this month. While my kids are all at ages where they think it’s uncool or that he’s not believable, I think it’s a great tale to remind us of the importance of good deeds. When nine of us were growing up in Mom and Dad’s house on Glenwood Ave, we’d celebrate the feast of the seven fishes and then as we all got older, we’d go to Midnight Mass. The lessons of the Christmas gospel were always about taking care of each other. Now, fully grown, my brothers and sisters still come together just after Christmas to celebrate with lots of food and all of our hearty laughs and the traditional gag gifts with the roasting to follow.

My Gift to All of You…

When you come into the salon over the next few weeks, you might notice something more than just the holiday decorations. I’m returning to my favorite place: being behind the chair. I’ve been hungry to get creative again and since Jamal is taking a huge weight off of me in the Academies, I can come back and change the world of haircutting… Again!

As of the beginning of this month, I’ll be working at the Salon a few days a week and I’ll be happy to see you around.

———————————————–

Holiday Collection/Bell Ringing for Salvation Army

Inspired by the lessons of the many Midnight Masses, our staff will be volunteering to help collect money for Salvation Army at Kmart on Dec 6th from 5pm to 8pm and again on Dec 8th from 9am to 9pm at Sam’s Club. We do this every year as one of the many ways to give back to the community.

———————————————–

Perfect Holiday Gifts!

If you’ve been assigned someone you barely know for Secret Santa or looking for a gift with endless uses for your friends or family, stop by the Salon and purchase:

Gift Card. You can put any service or value on these cards, yet the experience is priceless.

OR…

Custom Made Gift Baskets containing products tailored to your hair/face and body needs. You know Heather will hook you up with the best products on the market.

———————————————–

Noteworthy Services (especially with all of the Shopping)

Holiday shopping is going to be heavy on your feet, so show them some love. Set up an appointment for a pedicure and sit back in our throne and recharge for your next round of shopping.

New: Paraffin Manicure, which combines nail polishing and buffing with skin softening and moisturizing. This treatment replaces the lotion once rubbed into your skin with a coat of paraffin wax. The wax can be left on for five minutes or up to an hour. It’s oil characters penetrate your layers of skin and naturally soften your skin. The results of this manicure and treatment last longer than a traditional process. Come and try it for yourself.

———————————————–

Hurricane Sandy… And Some Things for which to be Thankful

As I was preparing this month’s newsletter with themes of being thankful and sharing in the holidays with family and loved ones, something happened. Many of you probably know my son, Jamal, lives in New York City and just before Halloween, the coast of New Jersey and New York were hit by something major: Hurricane Sandy. On Sunday, October 28th, Jamal reached out to me to let me know he was readying himself and his place for the storm. He lives in Lower Manhattan, on the West side, in the Chelsea neighborhood. I told him to keep me posted on the situation as well as to keep his mother, Gloria, in the loop on the storm’s conditions. Gloria was very nervous to know her baby was in danger, even though he’s in a Zone of the city that didn’t need to evaluate and was far enough away from the water that it wouldn’t affect him.

By Monday evening, the storm arrived at Manhattan. Around 8pm, Jamal sent a text message with a picture of some of the damage down the street from him, including a four story building with two floors exposed after its facade collapsed. Within the hour, he lost power in his apartment which didn’t return for another four days (because the flood waters caused an explosion at the electric transformer station nearby). From what he tells me, initially, it was exciting to live the “primitive” lifestyle with candles since he has a gas stove, but after the hot water tank ran out, the fun was over. He stayed with friends in other areas of the city, but describes his experience as being a war zone resident who had to migrate to other parts of the city in order to get power, take a shower, cell phone reception and heat. Since then, Jamal’s more grateful for all of the utilities we take for granted in addition to all of the love and opportunities he has in his life.

This month is always a time a reflection for me. As Thanksgiving nears and my family comes together, I’m in my glory. Growing up in a big family was such a privilege (although, I might not always like it). While we didn’t have much as far as material, we had lots of laughs and to this day, a lot of love. I’m always thankful for my Mom and Dad. God bless them for raising a group of dynamic and successful kids. I can only hope to do the same.

———————————————–

A Day of Pampering at Divine Providence

Heather gathered some of the students at Barone Beauty Academy to go to the Hospice Unit at Divine Providence for a spa day. They set up their blow-driers and kits to treat the staff to some much appreciated pampering. This was an idea of the hospice coordinator, Linda Weindhardt Younes, and we’ve always been happy to get involved in the community. Philanthropy is an important tenant to overall success.

Next month, you’ll see us ringing the bells and collecting coins for Salvation Army throughout town.

I’m sorry this Newsletter is late… I’m blaming Jack Frost!

October is now and the Barone family is in full speed. Carmen’s loving Middle School (and courting girls for dates), Nick’s dominating in Football (getting stopped by many thinking that he’s scholarship worthy), Alena’s started Kindergarten (no longer nervous or throwing up before school like my sister Mary Kay), Bella’s the most popular girl in her class (or so she says) and Jamal’s transforming the family business (a couple of years until I pass the torch). I’m so proud of my kids and I love them so much. One night while Jamal was home, we all sat at the dinner table, catching up on what we’ve been doing and, of course, Nick took the brunt of everyone’s jokes. He’s a talented kid, but we got to keep his ego in check (otherwise, he could get in over his head). We had a lot of laughs during that dinner. Carm told us he still wants to go Trick or Treating on Halloween this year and Nick thinks he can get an older girl (one of Bella’s friends). I can’t help but to wonder where they got it from. It’s Jim and Ed while Bella and Lena are Ann and Mary Kay.

Now in the middle of October, the weather is getting colder and I think it’s a great opportunity to emphasize the importance of moisturizing your hair much like your skin. Toward the end of this note, I’m going to highlight a product that would be good to pick up before Jack Frost attacks.

———————————————–

Reception Highlights

On the First of October, we hosted a gathering at our Salon, excited to treat our guests to a night of beauty and rewards and food. While the attendance was not what we hoped, we had fun. A couple of loyalists came in, got styled and their make up touched up, but it ultimately became a staff party. My wonderful mother, Jean, came to party, too. Here are some pictures from the event:

We’re taking some lessons from this first (of many) party and next time, we’ll schedule it on a different day. Perhaps a Sunday afternoon or a Friday night instead of a Monday night. Be on the lookout for future invitations.

————————————————-

Stylists to Label M’s Training in New Jersey

Brittany, Rachel and Niles went to Label M’s headquarters in New Jersey for more training on edge-cutting and undercuts. They’ve brought some new techniques back to the Salon to share with the crew. When you see them next, ask them about it… or to show you there stuff. Check out some of these pictures from their training:

———————————————————–

Keep it Moist: Davines Momo Shampoo and Conditioner

Although it may be hard to take hair advice from me (since I don’t have any), please consider your hair’s moisture as important as your face (no one wants wrinkles or noticeably damaged hair). Here are two products I stand wholeheartedly behind (but if you have further questions, ask Heather about these products. She’s a product encyclopedia):

Davines Momo Shampoo

Shampooing your hair is not only to clean it, but to add nutrients to make for healthy, detangled hair. It adds to the flow and appearance of natural beauty. Momo Shampoo is a valued product derived of renewable nutrients, stimulating your hair cells and keeping your hair healthy.

Davines Momo Conditioner

Conditioning your hair is about rehydrating after the shampoo cleaned it. Momo Conditioner adds incredible moisture, natural shine and a beautiful herbal scent. Strong enough to combat Jack Frost.

If you want to know more about these products, reach out to Heather and she’ll find the best products for you.

It took me a while to sit down and write this newsletter, but you will be hearing from me in a matter of about two weeks with another note about the family, Fall sports and preparation for the holiday season that we all love.

When Tony met Deb…

When someone dedicates 25 Years Of Passion and Heart, “Thank You” just doesn’t seem to quantify the amount of respect and gratitude that I have for Deb Johnson. This month marks her twenty fifth year working at Tony’s Stylists, now Barone 3G Salon and I can remember the young girl from Snyder County in the blue flowered dress like it was last month. Time flies when you’re surrounded by talented people, but I recall her first day at the salon. Dad hired her as a receptionist and within months, he taught her how to cut and style hair. Within no time, she mastered men’s haircuts and specialty perms and became an integral part of the team. She’s been certified in many color lines including Davines, which we carry. More recently, she’s a role model for the newer stylists, showing them more effective techniques and how to build their clientele.

Beyond these walls, Deb has 2 sons, 1 daughter and 6 grandchildren. This (grand)mother couldn’t be more proud of her grandchildren who make her feel so lucky to watch them grow up and become their own person. At the end of September, she plans to visit one of her sons, daughter-in-law and grandson in Utah. You can imagine by the way Deb has dedicated herself to working with us, those grandkids feel so much love and adoration. As Dad would say, “Deb, you’re a heck of a lady!” Next time you see her in salon, please echo our gratitude and show her some love. We couldn’t be more privileged to have her as a leader in this salon.

——————————————————-

New Faces

In the coming days, you’ll see two new members of the team, Rachel and Megan. These two recent graduates join us with a lot of excitement and ambition. They will likely be the face to welcome you as you arrive, answer your calls, keep the salon spotless and assist in shampooing and offer you one of our many complimentary services (beverages, hand massages and touchups).

——————————————————-

Trends for Fall 2012

(Here are some styles that will easily transition from the runway to freeways and Main Street)

Slicked Back Hair- Make it look sleek, easy and effortless. Take a good product, a comb and pull it back or part your hair. Let it shine.

Low Volume, Textured Hair- Street style inspired. This is a more matted down look rather than full bodied. It emphasizes silhouette (with your face), may even look fine. This style looks more natural… even after a few days whether you wash your hair or not.

Statement Hair Accessories- A little embellishment, such as ceremonial floral pieces, cosmic hairpins, headbands and decorative hair clips, can compliment simple, pulled back hair. Less work, but can be a great conversation starter.

Braided/Twisted Hair- Braid a portion of your hair into a crown or twist and tie it into a bun. Create a braided look that combines fresh looking, healthy hair with a little art like braided crowns, headbands or halfups.

——————————————————-

Mark Your Calendar

Evening Reception at Barone 3G Salon

Monday, October 1st, 6-8pm

The team and I would love to invite you to come in and eat, drink and be merry! We’ll have food and drinks, raffle off a number of products and services, offer complimentary services, massages and music. I’ll be on hand to reconnect and share some laugh. If you have any questions about the event, contact my son, Jamal, at jbarone@baronebeautyacademy.com. I hope to see you there.

Fall’s near and while vacation season may be over, we’ll have plenty of Holidays to celebrate in the coming months. I’ll see you around the Salon!

Keep in mind: When you come in for your appointment, we’ve got beverages for you as well as offer hand/head massages and makeup touchups (and it’s all included in your experience).

The dog days of Summer are here. This is the time when families and friends go on vacation to get away before back to school preparations. I remember many trips to Albany to visit my Dad’s uncle and cousins. At least five of us kids, Mom and Dad would be packed into Mom’s station wagon to trek for about six hours to reconnect with our family. Whenever bored, Jim and I would pick on Mary Kaye or Ed to get them to cry, agitating Dad. He’d yell for us to knock it off and we’d be startled for a second then burst into laughter.

Early in the summer, Carmen, Nick and I went to the Outer Banks. We had a blast! Every so often, they claim they were bored, so I’d remind them of the house chores they could do to occupy their boredom. One morning, we took a boat out into the ocean and dolphins swam along side us, exciting the boys. That was a beautiful moment that put every thing in perspective: Family means every thing to me. Consider yourself a part of my extended family.

In Case You Haven’t Heard… My son, Jamal, joined our team as a Part-time Marketing Director for the salon and both of our schools. I’m excited that he’s going to help continue to build upon my Father and my Grandfather’s dreams. Soon enough, this salon may be renamed Barone 4G, but we’re going to be better than any cellular network. While he still lives in New York City, you’ll probably see a lot more of him around here. I’m proud of him and ready for his direction!

———————————————————-

New Color Technique:

FLAMBOYAGE is a brilliant method of coloring developed by Davines artistic director, Angelo Seminara. Using Flamboyage Meche paper (instead of foils), this technique creates beautiful, subtle blending of your natural color and accentuating the additional colors. This is fantastic for lightening and darkening hair and more about blending instead of highlighting, so you’ll see less of the regrowth effect.

Stop in and find out more about Flamboyage coloring techniques. We’ll be happy to set you up with a color appointment and show you the difference. Before and After photo shots taken, too.
